Looking around at Platon's portfolio "The Peoples Portfolio" I felt a lot of strong emotional feelings. I really like his quote “We are nothing as human beings if we don’t experience that connection.” , because it is just so true. I think that if we feel a connection with other people and their thoughts we can feel that we are not alone in this big world, which I think is important because many people in todays societies feel alone and that they don't belong where they are, if it is cultures, towns, groups, and so on. What we all need to realize is that there is people like you out there and that you are not alone, and I feel like that is something that this portfolio is trying to reach thru showing different big movements or situations in this world.
I started off by looking at the two minute long video at the first page as an overview to know a little bit more about this portfolio. Looking at the different portfolios I really think the pictures are made perfectly because they show so much more than just a person. By looking at the first picture "Sexual Violence in The Congo", I think this image is really well done because we see two women holding hands which reflects on that we stand and work together. I feel like these two women maybe have gone thru something but they are together and fight together. I think many people that go thru something like this feels alone and are too afraid to speak up, and that's why we together can make a different.
Another portfolio (Immigration) that really made me feel something was the little girl standing with a t-shirt on saying "FREE MY DAD". I felt very sorry for this girl because she looks so lonely and sad. The picture to me was very quiet in a way where the little girl feels empty, like she has nothing left, and that she needs help.
I took this selfie to feel some type of connection to the outside world but especially to bring some joy to the outside world. In this picture we see me making the peace sign which to me
is not only "peace" but also happiness which is something I am trying to give people on my daily basis. By also having a colorful shirt, a background with a blue sky, and palm trees makes me very happy and hopefully the viewers too.
